one step forward, three steps back.

Today,
I SCORED A GOAL!!!!

I can hardly contain my happiness.
The slightest thought makes me grin like a kid who just got a new toy.

I went over to the field just in time to see the team having their half-time break.
I made my presence known to coach(with hopes of getting to play) and proceeded to warm up.
The second half began and coach started substituting some players.
He told a few of us to get ready.
My face changed. According to Chooboss, i looked as though i had a mission to accomplish.

I waited at the sidelines with bated breath.
I noticed him noting down the numbers of the the attacking players and i smelled opportunity in the air.
Then, he passed me a slip of paper.
I was to told to play as a striker.
Opportunity.
When my friend gave me a fist of encouragement, i mouthed, 'I will score'. (BUT SHE DIDN'T GET IT hahhahaha)
During the first ten minutes or so, i was desperate for the ball.
I was chasing around aimlessly.
I wanted it so much.
When my teammate told me that she was out of breath, my spirit became more alive.
I can do more for her and for the team.
If it were a movie, there would be flames of desire burning in my pupils.
I knew that i had to do more, i had to make something happen because if i lose this opportunity, there won't be anymore chances like this in the future.
I needed to prove my worth.

Honestly, i forgot how it happened.
I didn't even know who made the pass.
I forgot which foot i used.
All i remembered was how i saw a ball which was shot from behind flying overhead.
Then there were two defenders and i chasing after it.
Opportunity.
After it bounced once(or twice?) i raised a leg and shot it towards the goal with my laces.

I stared at it as it tore through the air, narrowly missing the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper as she dived for it.
As it hit the back of the net, i pumped my fists into the air and squealed.
The smile that was plastered on my face then could not be erased.
That moment and the joy of being useful created a precious memory.
All the smiles and hugs made it even more worthwhile.

I truly believe that attitude creates opportunities.

I am very grateful for this chance and i am deeply touched by all the kind words(:

Closer.
Just a little closer.
