ah the reason i'm blogging is because i had a sudden thought after watching a few minutes of 'Renovaid' on channel 5.
i was just thinking how the occupant of the house would be feeling having his life story broadcasted on national tv.
i don't suppose he would feel good if he goes to school and all his classmates would be asking him about his family and life.
and probably be stigmatized by some for belonging to the lower income group.
i don't get the purpose of having this good deed televised.
if the sponsors are sincere about helping this family, i believe they would be doing this out of their own accord.
i do not think there is a need for this series.
let's just say if an MNC like IKEA is doing this, they could just have advertised for it somewhere, reviewed the applicants' financial status and simple go down to their homes to discuss what will be done.
i'm sure the families will feel immensely grateful.
i know i'm ignorant and immature to think like this,
but after racking my brains for a good 5 minutes, i cannot conjure a reason why or how this programme came about.
yes, it's no doubt a win-win situation for both the family and the sponsors or the show, but why would the sponsor want to sacrifice (possibly) whatever pride or privacy the family has?
if this is done behind closed doors, sure, no one would know that a good deed was ever done, but i believe it would be much more satisfying to the sponsor.
i'm not just targeting this specific series but other similar 'charitable' programmes out there.
